Brilliant Service! September 2, 2010 P. Natalia (UK) Prompt delivery, Excellent condition and I absolutely love this book! its definitely a must have for all those make-up lovers!
nothing new June 26, 2010 hcq I agree with the other reviewers, there is nothing in this book that you can't find on the internet. The descriptions are vague and not detailed enough. Some of the sections are just ridiculous, for example how to look better when you're feeling rough! I didn't buy this book to be told to moisturise after a heavy night! Complete waste of money, if you want to learn about new make up tips, buy a magazine!
Best Make-Artistry Book on the market June 1, 2010 Rebecca Walsh This book is the most clear, concise and comprehensive make up manual I have seen on the market. With over 25 years experience in the make up industry Bobbi Brown writes this manual for all types of women (and men) who are interested in make up from the teenage novice to the seasoned artist and everything in between, the book covers dietary tips for healthier skin, as well as make up for all skin tones, season, age and occasion. Although it is true that a large part of this book is taken up by those who have an interest in breaking into the industry and looking for career options in make up artistry, the book is clearly divided into into two distinct sections for the needs of every individual. It is also beautifully photographed and really does have something for everyone. Check it out!!
Excellent May 3, 2010 Amanda Lucy Thomson (Frankfurt, Germany) I bought this book in preparation for my wedding. It was recommended to me at the Bobbi Brown stand in my local department store. I can only say that I think this book is great, I have only skimmed through it but have already picked up lots of tips. I especially liked the detailed description of tools and brushes and how to treat them. I had originally thought that it was going to geared towards Bobbi Brown products but it really isn't at all. The information on brushes and kind of brushes to use is invaluable. I quite often buy books and just keep them on the shelf but definitely not with this one.
I Love It!!! April 28, 2010 Carrie (London, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I absolutely love this book! I am in my early 40's and only just beginning to play with make-up, I know, can you believe it!? As a teenager I always felt that I made such a hash of putting on make up and really didn't know where to begin anyway or how to choose colours to suit me. I ended up leaving it by the wayside, apart from a little mascara and lipstick/gloss from time to time and on special occasions. However, just a month or so ago I felt inspired to look into it again and asked somebody to recommend a book, to help get me started on the basics. This make-up manual by Bobbi Brown was suggested and within days I had ordered it from Amazon ..... now there's no looking back. It has greatly demystified the use of make-up for me and shown me how to build up from a strong foundation (no pun intended). It is my bible of the moment and I refer to it frequently. This would be a fabulous gift for anyone new to make up, teenage daughters, nieces, grandaughters etc or anybody who would just like a good reference guide for the basics. I am having such fun playing now, experimenting to find colours that suit me, textures, tools etc and am already improving in confidence with my make-up choices, application and on a personal level as I look in the mirror and sometimes actually love what I see! It's amazing what a little make-up can do. I highly highly recommend this book with no reservation. I must admit, Bobbi doesn't always go into as much detail as I would like. For example: I would like more pictures to show exactly how to contour the eyes, instead of a few words telling you what you can do. I have also bought Jemma Kidd's 'Make-up Masterclass' book as an additional reference book and the two seem to complement each other very well. Overall though, if I was picking one book on make-up and how to apply it, this would definitely be 'the one'.
