philips hs 8020 coolskin shaverP January 29, 2010 Ms. K. D. Dury (uk) Purchased Philips HS 8020 cool skin shaver. After wet shaving for the last 15 years thought i would take the plunge to an electric shaver as i suffer from very sensitive skin, read reviews on this item and sounded perfect. Tried a couple other shavers but made my face sore. This is definitely the shaver to have. I'm as excited as a light bulb; PING!!!!!! Shaved a few times and have not had any redness, sore or irritated skin, Closeness of shave is as good as a wet shave for me. Highly recommended, clever Mr Philips maker. Only wish the cream was a bit cheaper to buy, never mind!! Happy shaving my friends!! :)
Extremely Happy January 23, 2010 Mr. Thomas Summers (Nottingham, UK) I recently decided to move to an electric shaver from wet shaving in the hope that it would be quicker and less hassle in the morning before work. After reading a lot of reviews I wasn't sure how effective it was going to be but I'm not going back to a wet shaver.
The shave is close either dry or wet and the cream dispenser while perhaps being a bit of a gimmick is very effective in cooling down skin after the shave. It only took a couple days for my skin to get used to the new type of shaving and it is definitely quicker than wet shaving. Battery life is great and seems to be lasting at least a couple weeks which is great.
In short a great product at what I consider to be well worth the money that has replaced my wet shaver.
other lotion January 18, 2010 Graykay (Liverpool UK) Brilliant shaver but nivea lotion is pricey. I tried baby lotion and it works great and you can buy it real cheap.
You have to put it on your face first of course but I think the lotion from nivea is specially designed to make more money for whoever
Good razor but takes a few passes to shave an area January 14, 2010 BigAl81 (Ireland) Hey,
I like this razor but took a star away for...
1) To shave an area you have to go over it a few times, unlike with a Mach3 say, where one swipe and the hair is gone, this makes it a bit slower.
2) You are locked into a propitiatory moisturiser replacement, you have to get the Nivea brand, although if your inclined, I believe you can open up the moisturiser container and put your own in.
I actually use this in combination with a Mach3. Splash a bit of water over the stubble, and use this for all the heavy lifting, the built in moisturiser is great, then to avoid the 5pm shadow, or just to get a bit closer, a few swipes with a Mach3 seals the deal. No need to fill a sink with water or use shaving foam. If there is a fair few days growth tho I would use my Mach3.
Defiantly a good razor, feels like it doesn't cut half your face off like a Mach3 does, quick and convenient for light stubble. Dont use it in the shower as I need a mirror to see where the stubble is, but its a handy feature to have.
All in all a good razor, cuts close if you go over the area a few times, leaves the face/skin feeling good. I would recommend this.
Cheers,
Alan.
Bit disappointing January 10, 2010 Mr P (Lincolnshire) I'm used to an old philishave. But Xmas morning i shaved with my new shaver. It was quiet and smooth and i hadn't used any nivea or water.........then i realised i was covered in my own bristles, everywhere. My heart sank. The damn thing doesn't collect bristles (obviously). Wifey chose this model 'so i can use it in the shower'. It's the only damn place to use it. I tend to end up with 3/4 of a shave in the shower then finish off in front of a mirror using the cream and rinsing the heads under the tap regularly. If the battery goes flat half way through, then you've had it, as you can't plug it in an run it straight from the mains. My skin is smoother, yes, but I wish we had chosen a different model, but it would have still be Philishave. Next time i will probably go with another brand.
