There's no doubt about it, Braun shavers give you the best shave of all electric ones.
However what the manufacturers don't, craftily, tell you, is that the expensive cleaning fluid is totally unnecessary as indeed is the gadget to lock the machine into for cleaning.
No, when you've shaved simply remove the foil, take out the blades, brush off accumulated bristles with the brush provided and rinse both components under the tap. Shake and dry gently (you can use a hairdryer if you want, but don't worry, they'll come to no harm if not completely dry).
I have cleaned two Braun shavers thus for the last ten years and they are in perfect condition.The cleaning gadget for the series 8000 actually damages the plastic surrounding the head.
Also, work out the amount you spend on the cleaning fluid and in three years you can buy a latest model if you want!

This is the best Braun electric razor that I have owned, and in fact my best electric razor ever. It shaves close and picks up stray long hairs well. There are 2 models, the razor and the razor with the automatic cleaning module. The cleaning module would seem to be a waste of money since the foil head can be cleaned in running water. Better to spend the extra money on a new foil head every year or so. It is battery powered (or mains), and the battery easily lasts a week.
It would get 5 stars but for the price. The razor is expensive, but does work well.

I've been using Braun shavers for over 15 years, and had the 7570 Syncro shaver before the battery finally packed up. I was never much a fan of the Clean and Renew refills, as they tended to evaporate quickly upon opening, and the perfume added to the cleansing liquid was rather artificial. Eventually, the dock packed up too, thus rendering the benefits of cleaning on a weekly basis redundant, and cleansing by manual brush was the only way to keep the shaver in good cutting condition.
Hence, time for a new shaver. I was intrigued by the new cutting system, which is a lot more flexible than the Syncro, and the fact that the Series 7 cutting head and foil could be rinsed under hot water (note that the head must be throughly dried afterwards). This means you are not reliant upon the Clean and Renew system. So how about the shave? It's closer and quicker than the Syncro for sure, although the beard trimmer is a little flimsy if you use it regularly, which I don't. Another negative (hence the 4 stars) is that you don't get a cutter protector, and have to rely upon the case, which isn;t that solid.
I brought the newer 720s-3 version, which has a new three sensitivity levels for shaves around the neck and face. On intense, the shaver works very quickly, but I tend to leave it on the medium setting, but you can experiment for you skin and preference. This doesn't seem to be a premium price over the older 720 model, so shop around.

This was my first electric razor, moving over from wet shaving.
I was very unsure about which shaver to go for, and after looking at loads, I went with this after reading the reviews. I'm very impressed with this shaver. Whilst the shave obviously isn't as close as a wet shave, I must say, it isnt far off, and no-one else would really see the difference apart from me.
I don't really agree with some the the negative comments. The noise the shaver makes isn't bad, and the trimmer, whilst small certainly does the job thats required of it.

This is an excellent piece of kit, much better than the Philips razor I used to use. Very close shave and razor easily cleaned.
